Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer

Okay, fine. I admit it. Maybe I didn’t meet Rudolph. But I definitely did meet a load of deer! And at Christmas time, who’s to say these aren’t Santa’s helpers?

Dyrehaven is awesome. It’s a deer park slightly out from the main hustle and bustle of the city where rather tame deer live and it is absolutely free to go to the park and meet them. When we first got there, the gate we got to was locked. If you encounter this, then do not give up! We almost did but it is sooooo lucky we didn’t. Just walking around the perimeter, we found another entrance and then… the deer!

They were all so incredibly cute and also incredibly eager to steal my carrots: at one point I had about three desperately sniffing at my bag while I was trying to take a classic deer selfie. Note to self: Bring more carrots! I did not bring that many and had to give up my last one to a stag who began hissing at us. I promise you though, none of them were aggressive, despite the time of year and all of them were not shy to come up and inspect us. Personally, I think it was my singing of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer that caught their attention but I’m sure they’d say different!
